Plenty of people who go into business will have a business degree or a degree related to the area they work in. Just because you don't have one, don't be put off following a business career. You can just as easily leave school with nothing, that's no bar to making a success of yourself. Many of the world's top entrepreneurs aren't from academic backgrounds, after all.
There are all sorts of ways to get your foot in the door. You could try looking at apprenticeships, for a start. Some apprenticeships will focus on just one specific area of business, but if you're not sure which path you want to go down, others can give you a taster of all sorts of departments such as HR, PR, marketing, sales or finance.
Not everyone has the luxury of unpaid work placements, but if you can find something part-time, you can juggle it with another paid job and get plenty of experience from both to put on your CV. Experience counts even more than a piece of paper with qualifications stamped on it.
If you have the ideas and the drive, plenty of young people decide to start their own business. You know where your skills lie, and they're skills which not everyone is going to have. You can make use of and market those talents and someone will need them. Just make sure you do your homework and have the support you need in place.
Nobody needs a business degree to get into business. Far more important are determination and motivation – with those, you can overcome any obstacles.
