What Are the Highest Recruiting Sectors in the Japanese Market?

Japan is a brilliant country to work in, and well worth considering for your next career move. So which sectors are the highest recruiters in this incredibly dynamic market?

Japan has one of the largest economies in the world and it's a very dynamic market to work in. It's also highly competitive, but there are jobs to be found if you know which sectors are hiring and you have the skills to impress.

One of the largest recruiters is the automotive industry. Some of the biggest and best-known car companies are Japanese in origin, including Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan, and they're always on the lookout for new talent.

Another top recruiter is the consumer electronics sector, which is one of the largest in the world. Again, there are some big names – Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Nintendo. The roles going are many and varied, whatever your field of expertise.

Tourism is also big. While you may not know the country itself that well, there are ways you can learn – whether you want to work in hospitality or for an airline company, you'll still find roles to suit.

Fishing is another sector to consider, and there are always jobs the whole way along the fish supply chain. Japan has more than three hundred native species and a strong food culture centred around fish, so this is big business.

Finally, biochemistry. Japan has been ahead of the world in this sector for a long time, although other countries are now catching up. If you're trained in biochemistry, Japan could offer scope for career progression.

These five sectors are always recruiting, and contribute significantly to the Japanese economy. If you have the skills, experience and drive to succeed, Japan is a fantastic country to work in.
