Why You Shouldn't be Scared to Quit Your Job

Being in a job you're not content with can be miserable. Sometimes you need to take the plunge and just get out, even if you have nothing to walk into.

Do you wake up every morning hating the thought of going to work? It's unsurprising we've all been there. Being stuck in a job which is making you unhappy is one of the worst feelings in the world, and it can have a deep and long-lasting impact on your mental health. Most people stuck in a job they hate are too afraid to quit, worried they won't find anything else on the other side. If you're not happy, never be scared to walk away, even if you have nothing lined up.

What scares you more – being unhappy every day for the foreseeable future or the thought of change and a leap into the unknown? Personally, I'd say the former. Unhappiness can be endless, so too can opportunities. If you walk away, even with no job to walk in to, there are always going to be chances out there which you can seize. And they will inevitably be better than the bird you have in your hand right now.

Yes, unemployment is a scary prospect and you need to know you have enough saved up that you can handle it for a short time. But once you're out of your current job, you'll be happier and you'll have all the time in the world to fire off applications, attend interviews and brush up on your soft skills.

Just remember, your next job could be the most amazing, awesome thing which has happened to you, but you'll never know unless you make that bold decision and leap into the unknown. It may be scary, but walking away shows incredible bravery and strength of character.
