What are the Best Questions to Ask During an Interview to Get to Know Your Candidate Better

Interview questions are a great way to assess and get to know a candidate well in a limited amount of time. Some questions, a little unheard off, are amazing in scouting candidates that fit a specific criteria that you are looking for.

The question “When is it okay to bend the rules?” is one of them. Depending on the candidate's answer you'll be able to see if they are loyal and trustworthy. Because in all honesty, there really isn't a “good” time to bend any rule.

Another question that's great is “What is your ideal workplace culture?”. This is an amazing way to not only assess if your candidate will be an ideal fit for your company but it also gives you the opportunity to learn what improvements you can make within your own company.

This next one is not only fun but allows your candidate to demonstrate quick analytical and creative thinking – “What fictional character are you, and why?”. It also gives you an idea of how the candidate perceives themselves.

This one is an employee favourite “What are your greatest weaknesses?”. This question allows you to assess if their weakness will affect the ability to perform their responsibilities, to see if candidates are self-aware and whether or not they are working on improving themselves.

The last question is so random but so effective “How many jellybeans can fit in a suitcase?”. It's a great question to demonstrate the candidate's thought process. It also shows whether they are the type to ask for more information to clarify or just make assumptions and wing it.

These questions are great, out of the box, and fun allowing the already nervous candidate to relax a little.
